LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  • Understanding the epidemiology of dengue: Students should gain knowledge about the prevalence, distribution, and trends of dengue globally and within specific regions.
  • Identifying the vector: Students should be able to identify the Aedes mosquito species responsible for transmitting dengue and understand its breeding habitats and lifecycle.
  • Recognizing the symptoms: Students should learn to recognize the signs and symptoms of dengue fever, severe dengue, and other manifestations of the disease.
  • Understanding risk factors: Students should understand the various factors that contribute to the spread and severity of dengue, including environmental, social, and behavioural factors.
  • Prevention strategies: Students should learn about effective preventive measures, such as vector control (e.g., eliminating breeding sites, using insecticides), personal protection (e.g., wearing long sleeves, using mosquito repellent), and community interventions (e.g., health education campaigns, community clean-up initiatives).
  • Early detection and management: Students should understand the importance of early detection of dengue cases and appropriate management to prevent complications and reduce mortality rates.
  • Role of healthcare providers: Students should learn about the role of healthcare providers in diagnosing, treating, and preventing dengue, as well as their responsibilities in surveillance and reporting.
  • Community engagement: Students should understand the importance of community involvement in dengue prevention and control efforts and learn strategies for engaging communities in these initiatives.

Brief description of the activity

A seminar on Dengue was organized by Mr. Jitender Rana Circle Incharge, Health and Malaria Inspector, MCD and his team at Ganga International School, Sawda on 7th August, 2023 with the aim of educating and empowering students to take proactive measures in preventing the spread of dengue fever. Dengue is a vector-borne disease that poses a significant public health threat, and it is crucial to raise awareness among the youth about its causes, symptoms, and prevention strategies. The workshop was designed to engage students in interactive learning activities and equip them with the knowledge to protect themselves and their communities from dengue.

Students were taught various personal protection measures to reduce the risk of mosquito bites. They learned about wearing protective clothing, using mosquito repellents, and ensuring the use of mosquito nets while sleeping, especially in areas with a high incidence of dengue.

Brief description of the activity

  A very auspicious tree

plantation activity was organized in our school to create an awareness regarding climate change and its adverse

effect on us. Learning through gardening is known to be an

educational strategy in which a garden is used as a teaching

tool. Systematic reviews of the impact of school gardening on

academic performance and dietary habits foreground the

need for additional quantitative studies that would use strong

experimental. After their work in the garden was concluded,

the knowledge of garden in the children improved to a

statistically significant degree. The children’s attitude to

nature also became more positive than before they engaged in gardening activities.
